Appalachian Spring began in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC in 1968, with the goal to offer products with high quality, unique style, and usefulness to everyday life. They searched for products from the Appalachian regions of the United States, from Maine to Alabama, to offer at their unique gift store. Their products have found their way from gift tables to the hands of the Presidents and dignitaries, as gifts from the United States. Currently, Appalachian Spring operates five retail stores in the Washington, D.C. and Richmond, Virginia areas. They look to hundreds of talented artists and craftspeople throughout the United States for the majority of their collection and have been voted twice as the #1 store in the United States for American craft.
