The very first Mast General Store opened in 1883, at Historic Valle Crucis, NC, selling everything from plows to cloth and "Cradles to Caskets." Since then, the Mast General store has expanded and is currently operated by brothers and other family members. There are presently nine retail stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, offering merchandise that may remind you of “your grandma's house, like jams and jellies, real maple syrup, stone-ground cornmeal, comfortable rocking chairs, sturdy hiking boots, comfortable casual shoes, and Chacos.” In addition to the products available in the store locations, the Mast products are also available online.
