How Team Sports Retailer Enhances Business with Omnichannel Retail Solution

Schuylkill Valley Sports (SV Sports) Leverages Celerant to Manage POS Sales Across 19 Store Locations and Online

For more than 40 years, Schuylkill Valley Sports has been the place to buy sporting equipment and embroidery for teams and individuals in the Southeastern Pennsylvania area. Expanding their business online through an E-Commerce website (SVSports.com) and Amazon, it became necessary to integrate all retail channels in a single platform. In this case study, you’ll learn how SV Sports manages inventory and serves their customers through Celerant’s retail management solution.

Blog Team-Sports-Retailer-Schuylkill-Valley-Sports-Enhances-Omnichannel-Capabilities.jpg

“The amount of time we saved using Celerant’s Best Store Fulfillment module is immeasurable. Prior to Celerant, we had to manually process each incoming order, deciding which store to fulfill from, and notifying that store via email – it took hours daily. With today’s high volume, there’s just no way we could handle it without automation.”

– Nick Rhoads, IT Manager, Schuykill Sports

The Unique Needs of a Team Sports Retailer

Managing inventory is difficult for any retailer, but imagine not knowing whether your next customer is going to need a single item or potentially thousands of items. It makes a big difference, right? That’s what SV Sports faces everyday as it sells sporting equipment to individuals and teams. That means the store might sell a single baseball to one customer, and over a hundred to the next customer.

Expanding Business Through E-Commerce

Managing inventory across 19 stores, an E-Commerce website and Amazon can get complex rather quickly. Some of the challenges they faced include maintaining accurate stock levels, fulfilling orders and ensuring inventory is up-to-date online.  As a solution, Schuylkill Valley Sports implemented Celerant’s POS, which offers the ability to manage all of their retail channels in a single platform. Their Point of Sale and E-Commerce website now have real-time integration with the Inventory Management module, ensuring their inventory data is consistent throughout.

Benefits of an Omnichannel Retail Solution

With a fully-integrated solution, SV Sports is able to: Manage all of their inventory in one place; Manage E-Commerce sales for continued growth; Arm their sales staff with mobile POS; Integrate with third-party retail channels such as Amazon.

Through Celerant’s E-Commerce platform, SV Sports now offers enhanced search capabilities making it faster and easier for shoppers to find the right merchandise online. “Navigating and searching for products on our website is more intuitive. Not only are we able to offer a smart search that automatically corrects misspellings, the website shows search results graphically using thumbnail images, and offers suggestions for similar products.

Footwear Retailer Manages Inventory with Celerant’s Point of Sale Software

How Shoe Gallery utilizes Celerant’s retail technology to manage inventory in-store and online

Shoe Gallery , a Celerant client since 2006, is a premier footwear and apparel retailer with 4 stores in the Georgia, Mississippi and Oklahoma area.

Prior to implementing Celerant, the company was not able to properly manage inventory, which consisted of more than 200 brands. Employees were not able to search inventory; they had stocking issues; and lacked the technology to reorder products as needed.

How Shoe Gallery Utilizes Celerant Retail Technology to Organize Inventory - Image
“With the strong reporting Celerant provides, we can recognize trends and demand quicker, allowing us to reorder what is needed. And the fact that everything is integrated in real-time gives us relevant data instantly. So, informed decisions can be made that much quicker, which compels your business to grow.”
– Will Brooks, CFO, Shoe Gallery
Maintaining a Tight Grip Over Inventory

After countless hours of research, Shoe Gallery chose Celerant Technology as their retail solution provider. In order to get a tight grip over their massive and expanding inventory, they required the rich features that Celerant provides. For example, they customized 18 new fields to manage their inventory; set up automated purchase orders to reorder inventory based on min/max levels; and streamlined their  fulfillment process. This ensures shelves are always well-stocked without over-ordering.

If a customer can hit our products quicker, they’ll be able to check out faster and conversions will likely increase” says Brooks, “Which is ultimately what everyone wants.

Integrating POS and E-Commerce

In 2009, Shoe Gallery launched an E-Commerce site built by Celerant. The website is mobile-friendly and easy to navigate; it showcases products, suggests similar products and offers promotions – providing a great online shopping experience. The website also integrates with the point of sale in real-time, ensuring shoppers have access to accurate product data and stock levels.

Integrated mobile solution enables growth for one of the nation’s leading tennis equipment and apparel brands

With five stores across Florida, Tennis Plaza  is known amongst Tennis fans as the place to get all of their equipment and sport specific gear.

For the past six years, Tennis Plaza has powered its expansion with POS and E-Commerceapplications from Celerant Technology Corp. Quintin Valiente heads up the cross-channel marketing effort for Tennis Plaza, a task he says has become immensely easier with the Celerant implementation.”With Celerant, when we need to make changes and modify the software accordingly, we can get it done quickly. There’s no waiting for a new release and no restrictions on how we want to run our business,” says Valiente.

“With Celerant, when we need to make changes and modify the software accordingly, we can get it done quickly. There’s no waiting for a new release and no restrictions on how we want to run our business.”
– Quintin Valiente, Marketing Manager, Tennis Plaza
Tennis Plaza takes business on the road with mobile POS

With Tennis Plaza successfully having implemented Celerant’s mobile POS for their busy pop up shop within the Sony Open, one of the most prestigious international tennis tournaments, they have been able to expand their business. The event attracts more than 300,000 spectator, and Tennis Plaza had the unique distinction of servings as the sole tennis gear retailer operating on-site stores throughout the duration of the event.

With Celerant’s mobile POS, Tennis Plaza is able to see scan, count, manage and lookup inventory from anywhere (in trucks, store locations, warehouses) real time in order to keep their shelves stocked during the tournament.

Celerant’s mobile inventory application can be purchased and easily downloaded to simplify your inventory processes. This is a perfect option for retail stores looking for a device to complete physical inventory and smaller cycle counts, and perform other back-office functions while remaining cost-effective and completely mobile.

Employees can also now perform in-aisle customer service tasks such as registry creation without leaving the customer’s side. Add a Linea-Pro Sled to transform your iOS device into a barcode scanner, validating barcodes and making inventory tasks faster and more accurate.

“We’ve always enjoyed incredible sales figures at this event,” says Valiente, “but with Celerant, we achieved faster checkout speed.” says Valiente, “The lines can quickly get huge at these stores, but the combination of an improved user interface, mobile POS, and fast transaction speed helped us serve customers as quickly as possible.

Tennis Plaza’s mobile POS initiative at the Sony Open encouraged them to consider expanding its retail activity to other events.

Outdoor Sports Retailer Boosts Sales Through BI & Automation

Grady’s Great Outdoors achieves just-in-time fulfillment and boosts bottom line with integrated platform solution

Competing in a sportsman’s paradise like Anderson, South Carolina, requires a thorough knowledge of the all the recreational opportunities the area affords—which is something that Grady’s Great Outdoors provides. For more than 50 years, the outfitter has worked hard to keep up with the region’s growth and the new demands of digital marketing, but the brand needed help maintaining their own steady growth through improved inventory and sales management.

Struggling with Sales Visibility
Grady’s was struggling with a lack of true visibility into the sales velocity of its merchandise, reordering out-of-stock products without a clear understanding of how much merchandise the store was capable of selling. This meant that the business was unable to optimize inventory levels, unequipped to predict the upward potential of sales volume for individual SKUs and unable to place orders until minimum volume thresholds were met.

Grady’s team members also spent too much time counting inventory and manually writing purchase orders, and they didn’t have any insight into their competitors’ top selling items. Some of the company’s key issues were supporting inventory management, keeping records, maintaining on-hand merchandise without overstocking and balancing their needs with shifting offerings from vendors.

A Much-Needed Automation Solution

A simple solution for all of Grady’s ongoing challenges relieved its team of SKU record keeping and manual purchase order creation by automating processes with Stratus Retail, an advanced retail technology solution provided by Celerant Technology.

This technology offered the company a single platform for point of sale, CRM, inventory and warehouse management, ERP/back office and fulfillment processing. It allowed Grady’s to set inventory thresholds and track current levels and sales and then let the technology take over, automatically detecting statuses and creating new purchase orders to send to fulfillment, which saved personnel hours of work each day.

The best part is that automatic ordering can happen anytime and does not require minimums from the distributor. Regardless of how much or little volume I need, the system automatically orders the right amount as frequently as needed, even daily. . . . It’s the perfect model of just-in-time inventory fulfillment.”- John Phillips, President, Grady’s Great Outdoors

Easy Integration & Business Intelligence

Stratus Retail’s inventory automation and vendor integration capabilities allowed Grady’s to convert average selling items to big sellers. The platform supports bench-marking by automatically pulling sales data and sending it anonymously to distributors to share with other retailers. This gives the company access to their own competitive insights into well-performing products from similar retailers around the country. A valuable business intelligence tool, Stratus Retail helped Grady’s identify SKUs that turn into big hits among their target consumers.

Vendor integration gives me a window into market demand, and ensures I am serving customers with what they want, when they want it.”- John Phillips, President, Grady’s Great Outdoors

One Platform, Endless Insights

Working with Celerant and a single platform solution didn’t just improve Grady’s Great Outdoors’ bottom line, but it also made its customers happier because they noticed a change in product availability and saw Grady’s as their one-stop shop for all their outdoor needs. Adopting a multi-channel retail software solution paved the way for future growth while also revealing immediate, short-term advances in sales and customer satisfaction.

Taking advantage of the sales potential for merchandise has helped boost our bottom line and improve satisfaction from customers who always find what they are looking for.”- John Phillips, President, Grady’s Great Outdoors

Camping & Canoe Outfitter Quadruples Conversion Rates & Doubles Daily Traffic with SEO

Piragis Northwoods Company quadruples conversions with search engine optimization

Boosting organic search results for your website is one of the most important things you can do as a retailer, but this requires a thorough understanding of search engine optimization(SEO) and the power search engines wield over the success of your online business. SEO is a moving target, with leading engines like Google adjusting their algorithms frequently and online spaces becoming more crowded and competitive. For premier camping, canoeing and kayaking outfitter Piragis Northwoods Company, this challenge proved difficult to overcome on its own.

Managing SEO as a retailer adds another degree of difficulty as thousands of unique pages for individual SKUs compete with similar products online. Piragis made headway on the goal of improving its website’s performance and beginning SEO practices by digitizing the company catalog and enabling e-commerce for each item. But the team quickly ran into the issue of maintaining a great user experience while meeting the basic requirements of web crawlers and robots that determine SEO success.

“I had been working on optimizing SEO on my own, but it’s a huge job and partnering with an expert was definitely going to be necessary to do it right. … Since I was already using Command Retail for POS and E-Commerce, it was very easy for Celerant to see exactly what I was doing and they hit the ground running.”

– Tim Stouffer, Director, Piragis Northwoods Company

Website Auditing & Code Cleanup

To go about SEO the right way for Piragis, Celerant began by completing a detailed website audit, enabling tracking analytics to study the site’s data. This revealed duplicate content, which raises red flags with search engine algorithms and often causes pages to rank lower in importance—an issue that needed to be fixed quickly. Celerant cleaned up this code on the backend and worked with the company to execute frontend cleanup. The effort included reworking the site map and page hierarchy and rewriting page titles and metadata to optimize keyword use.

Moving Beyond the Keywords

Celerant’s cleanup work also encouraged the Piragis IT team to implement SEO best practices on the website’s content itself by adjusting page copy, activating user reviews on each page and standardizing image sizes to be more in line with social media platform requirements. Supplementing website fixes with social media posts on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat enhanced the brand’s visibility more directly for consumers, and in doing so, new backlinks brought added benefits to this great SEO effort.

“Not only do these results boost our bottom line, they also feed back into our SEO efforts. Search engines can see buyer behavior, and when they track a click through that converts, that gives the product page a higher ranking. So the SEO that boosted conversions works to boost SEO further.”

– Tim Stouffer, Director, Piragis Northwoods Company

Throwing video into the mix also proved highly beneficial for a retailer that brings extensive product expertise to the field. Because Piragis tests each item it stocks, and has a long history of doing so to ensure customer satisfaction, the team created comprehensive videos to tell the story of each product on its own page and reinforce the brand among consumers, linking SEO efforts to YouTube and giving key product pages a boost.

More Traffic, More Quality

The added level of authenticity and value that these tactics brought helped Piragis see tremendous results after just nine months. The company saw doubled daily traffic and higher quality visitors that quadrupled conversion rates in under a year. Because of Celerant’s retail solutions and SEO expertise, the outfitter was able to take the digital world by storm and reach its audience effectively to share a love of the great outdoors with more likeminded consumers.

Want more details about Piragis’s experience with Celerant and Stratus Retail? Download the full case study below to learn more today and get a free demo of the industry’s #1 ranked retail software if you’re ready to see how it can work for your company.

Celerant Technology Unveils Ready-Made eCommerce Websites for Museum Shop Retailers at the MSA Forward Event

Celerant’s Cumulus Retail platform offers eCommerce with pre-loaded products, images and live inventory from Ingram & Educators Resource

Staten Island, NY (March 28, 2019) – Celerant Technology, a leading provider of innovative retail point of sale and eCommerce solutions for the museum shop and gift industry, today announced that their powerful, yet simple, eCommerce platform, Cumulus eCommerce™, now offers access to books, audiobooks and gift products from Ingram® for retailers with a subscription to Ingram Data Services, which includes enhanced bibliographic data, publisher marketing and images.  Celerant also offers an integration of educational toys and related products from Educators Resource allowing museum shops to launch their website and start selling online with ease. In addition, Cumulus eCommerce offers flexible options allowing retailers to import products and drop ship through their distributors; utilize in-store kiosks to access available products from vendors; and add new web pages on-the-fly in order to stand out from the competition.

Display products from vendors simultaneously via ‘online data feeds’

Through Celerant’s vendor integrations, museum shop retailers can easily display products from multiple vendors simultaneously, plus their own physical inventory– all in a centralized view; and prioritize which vendor’s products to sell first. Cumulus eCommerce can pull ‘data feeds’ from each vendor, consisting of product descriptions, images and available stock levels, and immediately display those products online in nearly real-time– giving the impression of an ‘endless aisle’ of inventory. Cumulus also offers the ability for retailers to optimize and make any changes to the data that comes from their distributors to further differentiate their website.

Set pricing rules, manage vendors and customize the website with ease

Cumulus eCommerce allows museum shop retailers to easily manage their pricing strategy, and offer promotions, coupons and loyalty programs. Pricing rules can be based on each vendor; specific categories, departments and pricing levels; a percentage increase; or a dollar amount over cost. In addition, museum shop retailers can easily change their vendor’s product descriptions while in edit mode on their website.

With an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editing tool, museum shop retailers can make cosmetic changes to their website on-the-fly; change the color scheme of the site, change the order of their departments and the positions in which their products are displayed; create product collections for their home page or new landing pages; and update specific product descriptions and images. While in edit mode, retailers can click on any product to view which distributor it comes from, their real-time on-hand availability, and the cost for that product- all with just a few clicks.

Take advantage of in-store kiosks to offer more products, in-store

When a customer comes into a store looking for a product the retailer doesn’t carry, the retail associate can use an in-store kiosk or mobile device to access their vendors’ available product data, search for the brand and item, and then complete the sale in-store, via their website’s shopping cart. Celerant’s retail system will automatically send the order to the distributor to fulfill, allowing customers to have it shipped to their own homes or the store.

“Our new integration with Ingram into our ‘Ready-made’ eCommerce websites, brings the smaller merchants access to valuable data that was otherwise not made available to them. Our new easy-to-use eCommerce platform is designed specifically for smaller merchants, and through partnerships with companies such as Ingram and Educators Resource, we are enabling these retailers to create and launch eCommerce sites, full of products with images and descriptions, in virtually no time at all.”- Ian Goldman, CEO and President, Celerant Technology

Infographic: Payment Security for Small-To-Mid Size Retailers

Major data breaches in recent years have created significant damages for retail companies. The 2013 Target data breach, for example, cost the company an estimated $1 billion dollars1. But large companies are not the only ones that need to be concerned; small-to-mid sized retailers (SMRs) are the victims of 80% of hacker attacks, according to the PCI Standards Security Council (Payment security for smaller retailersPCI SSC). It is therefore important to know what risks SMRs face from potential hacks, and what can be done to avoid the issue in the first place!

The cost of a data breach for a small-to-mid size retailer

When SMRs suffer a breach, the penalties can be daunting as they have to take on the bulk of the associated costs. This includes reimbursement of cardholder losses; costs associated with the notification of affected consumers; and any case management fees and penalties from card brand networks, which can range anywhere from $5,000 to $500,000. The total cost can be enough to run some businesses into the ground.

To avoid that fate for your business, your POS security needs to be “airtight”. Whether your employees or your customers are on a tablet, a phone or a computer, every “connected” network and device poses a threat. However, with the right security, both your and your customer’s information will be safe.

Four key steps to protect your business:

  1. Process sales transactions with EMV-enabled technology, P2PE (Point-to-Point Encryption) and Tokenization. Instead of valuable credit card numbers and data being stored in your point of sale, an ‘encrypted’ or ‘tokenized’ number is stored, which is of no value to a potential hacker, taking your business out of PCI Scope.
  2. Keep hardware and software updated and patched to avoid vulnerabilities in the first place.
  3. Scan for application vulnerabilities continuously and proactively. Since threats can come anywhere, anytime, your security needs to be vigilant and adaptive.
  4. Leverage the security capabilities of third-party partners. A professional team of software experts can be prepared for even the most advanced hackers.

There are few data challenges as critical to SMRs as keeping credit card information secure, and your entire team needs to be kept up-to-date and focused on the issue. To learn more about data protection in an intuitive and shareable way, download our infographic, Payment Security for the SMR, and start protecting your retail business today.

Using Your Stores To Fulfill E-Commerce Orders

A customer places an order online, receives a confirmation email, and gets their package delivered within 24 hours. Seems simple, right? If only it were that easy!

Challenges retailers face when fulfilling orders

With online orders and customer expectations both on the rise, it’s becoming increasingly important for retailers to streamline and improve their fulfillment process. Order tracking, transportUsing Your Stores To Fulfill eCommerce Ordersation costs, inventory shortages and seasonal fulfillment are just some of the challenges retailers face when it comes to fulfillment. And it becomes even more complicated if you’re an omnichannel retailer selling in-store, on your website, and through Amazon, eBay, Walmart and other third-party marketplaces.

So what are some common methods retailers use to streamline fulfillment?

Streamlining fulfillment

As E-Commerce websites become more sophisticated, more and more shoppers are purchasing products online, and also through third-party marketplaces. That means retailers have to manage and fulfill orders from multiple places simultaneously (not an easy task).

To streamline order fulfillment, many retailers have turned to drop shipping. Some retailers rely on their distributors to fulfill orders; others use fulfillment centers or “Fulfillment by Amazon” services, or whatever marketplace(s) they sell through. Outsourcing fulfillment provides many benefits to retailers such as the ability to offload shipping services, and in some cases, reduce the amount of inventory you carry. However some retailers prefer to ship orders in-house.

So what about in-store fulfillment?

Fulfilling orders in-store

By offering in-store fulfillment, you gain more control over your orders and inventory no matter where it’s located (i.e., one of your stores, warehouse). But if you have multiple locations, which store should fulfill which order? Of course selecting the store closest to the customer seems most logical; but there’s more to it than that. What if that store is having a sidewalk sale and needs the inventory; or what if they are backed up? What then?

Celerant Technology’s retail management system offers a feature called ‘Best Store Fulfillment, which automatically selects the “best” store based on your priorities and preferences, such as: location, stock levels, weeks of supply, planned promotions, projected sales, staffing, pickup frequency, and many others. That way, you can fulfill orders faster and cheaper, with the least amount of errors, and without overloading your staff or overselling inventory.Video how to choose the best store to fulfill from

“After embracing ‘Best Store Fulfillment’, one of our retail clients now ships 98% of their orders same day, reducing labor costs by 12 ½%. As a result, their online sales are growing 23% on average year-over-year.”

Whether you have a few stores, or a large omnichannel retailer with many store locations, Celerant’s ‘Best Store Fulfillment’ allows you to maximize inventory to the fullest potential – so you can better compete online.

How Can You Eliminate Your Abandoned Shopping Carts

Abandoned shopping carts are a huge problem in E-Commerce but with advance retail software, they don’t have to be.

Imagine a store with customers, all ready to pay for the items they want to take home, when suddenly they drop whatever they were going to buy and exit the establishment. It would be a  bizarre scHow To Eliminate Abandoned Shopping Cartsene for an outsider to witness and downright scary for the owner and employees. Yet this is exactly what goes on in the world of E-Commerce. More than two-thirds of online shopping carts are abandoned before the customer checks out. Why? There are reasons shared between customers and there are also reasons unique to a customer and all sorts of combinations.

Taking a Page Out Of The Brick-and-Mortar Playbook

With the amazing growth of online shopping, it’s easy to overlook that brick-and-mortar stores are still the preferred way of shopping for most consumers. More than half of shoppers acquire the products they need by walking into a store.

It’s because at a store, their doubts can be removed by seeing the products firsthand and, more importantly, by talking to salespeople who can answer their questions and lend them a guiding hand. And these interactions could be even more successful with employee engagement improvements.

Imagine what introducing these sales techniques to the digital side of your omnichannel retail strategy could do to your business. With powerful retail software, both in-store and online, you don’t have to imagine.

Real-Time Access To Shopping Carts

With Celerant’s Conversion Center, CSRs, or Customer Service Representatives, can see customers’ shopping carts in real-time so they can monitor when a customer adds and eliminates products. This is ideal for when customers start eliminating products from their carts. A CSR can jump in and find out if there’s a specific problem that could be remedied to save the sale.

If your small or medium-sized business doesn’t have the manpower to monitor many customers then you could have a visually-striking button or link that lets customers know that they can chat to a CSR for any reason. In those cases, CSRs would still be able to see customers’ carts while chatting to find out what barriers exist in customers’ minds.

CSRs could help resolve customers’ apprehensions and, depending on the rules and parameters you have set, offer incentives to close the sale, like free shipping or a discount on the total price. Perhaps you only want to offer free shipping as an incentive when a customer buys over $80 in merchandise. It’s all up to you.

Automated Email Marketing For Abandoned Carts

Conversion Center captures customer information as soon as an email address is entered during the checkout process. That means your company doesn’t have to depend on a finalized checkout or account creation to start using this powerful tool. Collect a customer’s email address and start the timer, in case they don’t buy, for a trigger that you have already created.

Automated email campaigns can be sent to shoppers with abandoned carts. You can decide how much time you want to wait before sending out reminders and incentives.

Here’s an example to illustrate how a retailer might modify the rules and parameters to rescue an abandoned cart:

  • A customer abandons her shopping cart.
  • A week later, she receives an email reminding her about her shopping cart with a message that makes it clear that she can chat to an agent in real time.
  • If she still doesn’t make a purchase, she could get an email with a coupon code that makes shipping free if she orders over $100.
  • And if after a month, she still hasn’t come back to her abandoned shopping cart, she might get an email with a 10% discount.

Proactive, Real-Time Engagement & Remarketing Tools

You are free to use email automation as you wish to achieve your sales targets. An abandoned cart with a certain product could trigger an email that is sent to the customer with a link to a dedicated landing page. The landing page could feature the product and highlight its potential effects and long-term benefits. Employ a wide range of tactics, keep track of the results, and watch your conversion rates skyrocket.

How Can You Sell More Through Your Email Marketing?

Retailers can begin to dominate the sales funnel by giving each customer a personalized experience

Email marketing allows businesses to contact their customers and alert them of new products, services and sales. With the help of advanced POS software and E-Commerce solutions, which collects and stores customer and sales data, businesses can reach customers effortleEmail Marketing automation for retailersssly and with a high-level of precision. This insures that customers receive relevant news and specialized offers.

Personalized emails guarantee that customers will only see materials that relate to them, while also allowing for distinct issues to be resolved in appropriate ways. Expectations are changing so companies should be ready to embrace a sales experience that treats people as individuals.

How Relevant Is Email?

Without trying to appear too judgmental, it’s probably much more relevant than you think. Just listen to these stats:

⇨ 99% of consumers check their email everyday.
⇨ They check their email accounts 20 times a day.
⇨ 78% of teenagers use email.
⇨ Gmail has more than a billion users.
⇨ There are nearly four billion email users globally.

Email is a convenient mode of communication because it’s asynchronous (necessary for a busy world and differing time zones) and totally independent, you can use any email service and device that you want to read and send email.

With the major tech companies embracing AI, and the data mining and ads that come with it, email will continue to be the #1 mode of communication for billions of people and thus the best tool for retailers to reach their customers.

Break Through The Noise

The average email inbox is overflowing with messages and most of them are commercial in nature. Businesses need to learn how to break through the noise and make themselves heard. Most humans, according to our nature, enjoy being respected and acknowledged as individuals. If you’re constantly treating customers like interchangeable parts, it will dissuade them from opening your future emails.

What Qualities Should Email Marketing Automation Have?

Firstly, it should be segmented. This is the first step to creating a personalized experience for your customers. With the help of your retail software platforms, you can keep track of customers and purchases in which you can then automatically create segments based on demographics, preferences, last purchase dates, and more.

Being able to make meaningful categories with the data you collect can help you create effective email campaigns.

Secondly, it should be personal. Instead of sending the same email to a giant contact list, with only first names modified to match users, you can send emails that consider their preferences and behaviors. Consumers can smell cookie-cutter messages from a mile away and they’ll be hesitant to open messages from those companies in the future.

⇨ AUTOMATICALLY CREATE SEGMENTS BASED ON DEMOGRAPHICS, PREFERENCES, LAST PURCHASE DATES & MORE

Thirdly, it should be automated. Celerant’s email marketing automation lets you create automated workflows that trigger emails in variety of ways. By using valuable customer information gleaned by the Celerant POS and E-Commerce software, the system automatically triggers and sends specific, targeted emails to specific customers, based on their own actions in your store and on your website.

Fourthly, it should be measurable. Advanced marketing metrics (like bounce rates, conversions and click-throughs) will allow you to identify what’s working- and what’s not. Experimenting is like searching in the dark unless you have data guiding you. And if your company already has experience running successful campaigns, then you can use the data for strictly optimization purposes.

Email Marketing Automation Gives You Many Options

By being able to create workflows and designate different triggers for different campaigns, you will be able to create extremely personalized experiences which is the key to delivering value to your customers.

A customer who has abandoned her shopping cart might be nudged with an offer to pick up her product in-store. Another customer who has not purchased from you for a while might be enticed with Black Friday deals or a new product line.

Celerant’s Cumulus Retail platform offers eCommerce with pre-loaded products and pre-built department structures with flexible options to customize

Staten Island, NY (January 17, 2019) –Celerant Technology, a leading provider of innovative retail solutions for the firearms industry, today announced that their powerful, yet simple, eCommerce platform, Cumulus eCommerce™ , now offers a pre-populated database of firearm products and accessories, and a pre-built website department structure, allowing firearm dealers to launch their website and start selling online immediately. In addition, Cumulus eCommerce offers flexible options allowing dealers to import products and drop ship through their distributors; customize their website; and add new pages on-the-fly in order to stand out from the competition.

Choose a custom or a pre-built website department structure

With Cumulus eCommerce, firearm dealers can choose to create their own, unique department structure, or take advantage of Celerant’s new pre-built structure to go-live in virtually no time. Custom department structures, which allows dealers to differentiate their website from other dealers, can be easily created within the Cumulus Admin by simply defining department names, and types within each department, along with SEO-friendly URLs. Dealers can then map their custom departments to their distributors with just a few clicks, which automatically associates and displays their distributor’s products in the designated place on their website, making it easier for customers to find the products they want.

Display products from multiple distributors simultaneously via ‘online data feeds’

Through Celerant’s vendor integrations, firearm dealers can easily display products from multiple distributors simultaneously, plus their own physical inventory– all in a centralized view; and prioritize which vendor’s products to sell first. Cumulus eCommerce can pull ‘data feeds’ from each distributor, consisting of product descriptions, images and available stock levels, and immediately display those products online in nearly real-time– giving the impression of an ‘endless aisle’ of inventory. Cumulus also offers the ability for dealers to optimize and make any changes to the data that comes from their distributors to further differentiate their website.

Leveraging Celerant’s growing list of firearm distributor integrations, dealers can choose which distributors they want to order from, including Sports South, RSR Group, Zanders, Lipsey’s, Davidson’s, Bill Hicks, United Sporting Companies, Kinsey’s, amongst others.

Set pricing rules, manage distributors and customize the site with ease

Cumulus eCommerce allows dealers to easily manage their pricing strategy, and offer promotions, coupons and loyalty programs. Pricing rules can be based on each distributor; specific categories, departments and pricing levels; a percentage increase; or a dollar amount over cost. In addition, distributors can be easily deactivated as needed by the dealer, and the distributor’s data can be easily changed while in edit mode on the dealer’s website.

With an easy-to-use drag-and-drop editing tool, dealers can make cosmetic changes to their website on-the-fly; change the order of their departments and how products are displayed; create product collections for their home page or new landing pages; and update specific product descriptions and images. Dealers can also click on any product to view which distributor it comes from, their real-time on-hand availability, and the cost for that product- all with just a few clicks, while in edit mode.

Drop ship orders through distributors and/or fulfill from your own stock

Dealers can prioritize which distributor’s products to sell online first, and/or choose to sell their own physical inventory on their website. Once an order is placed online, Celerant recognizes if the order should be sent to a distributor for drop shipping, or fulfilled by the dealer using the dealer’s own inventory. If the order is being drop shipped, the order is automatically sent to the specified distributor on behalf of the dealer. Customers can also purchase firearms online and complete the transaction at a local gun shop, using the integrated FFL Locator to have the firearm shipped and/or drop shipped to a participating FFL dealer.

At Celerant, it’s all about giving the dealers options. Our goal with this new online offering is to allow dealers to launch their eCommerce websites quickly and easily- leveraging their distributor’s data- while still differentiating themselves from their competitors and being unique in terms of Search Engine Optimization. Display a wide-variety of products online with drop shipping

Retailers can also display and sell Kinsey’s merchandise online without stocking inventory or fulfilling orders. Celerant’s E-Commerce websites can integrate with Kinsey’s live ‘data feeds’ consisting of available inventory in their warehouse; and display those products– including product descriptions, images and on-hand stock levels– online in real-time, allowing archery/outdoor retailers to offer an ‘endless aisle’ of products. This is potentially big news for the small independent-owned retailers. They are presented with an opportunity to compete with larger online companies while realizing instant expansion and modernization. Once an order is placed, the order is sent to Kinsey’s to drop ship from their warehouse directly to the retailer’s customer.

We are excited to partner with Kinsey’s to offer seamless integration with a leading distributor of archery and outdoor equipment. Through our integration, our outdoor retailers will be able to replenish their in-store inventory more efficiently, while offering a wider variety of products on their websites, since Kinsey’s will be drop shipping the orders on their behalf. Bringing together our innovative technology and Kinsey’s merchandise will promote business growth and efficiency for our clients and their customer base of over 3,000 retailers nationwide.- Ian Goldman, CEO of Celerant Technology

Celerant Technology Partners With Davidson’s® To Streamline Inventory Replenishment For Outdoor/Hunting Dealers

Celerant’s retail platform integrates with Davidson’s, enabling firearm retailers to import products, automate inventory replenishment and access available inventory

Staten Island, NY (October 15, 2018) – Celerant Technology, a leading provider of innovative retail solutions for both small and enterprise firearm retailers, announces its integration with Davidson’s , one of the largest firearm distributors in the nation. Through this integration, firearm dealers can import product catalogs, automate purchase orders, and offer a wider-variety of products online.

Import Davidson’s products into your point of sale and automate purchase orders

Celerant’s retail platforms- Stratus Retail for larger dealers, and Cumulus Retail for the smaller dealers- are both fully-integrated software solutions for Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) retailers combining: Point of SaleCRM, e4473, Electronic A&D Booksrange management and more – in a single platform. From within Celerant’s point of sale, firearm dealers can access and browse Davidson’s product catalog; import the products they want to sell, including product descriptions and images of Davidson’s exclusive products; and reorder inventory with automated purchase orders based on min/max levels. This ensures retailers will have the necessary inventory on-hand, while eliminating the need to manually enter products into the retail system.

Sell more products online without stocking inventory

Through Celerant’s E-Commerce platforms, iStratus and iCumulus, retailers can easily display and sell Davidson’s available inventory online. With ‘online vendor feeds’, Davidson’s available inventory levels and current MSRP’s are automatically reflected online. Dealers can also expand online sales by integrating their Celerant E-Commerce website with GunBroker, Slick Guns and the upcoming Guns.com marketplace, and other popular marketplaces (i.e., Amazon, eBay, Social Media) for non-firearm merchandise.

With real-time integration between the E-Commerce and point of sale, dealers can view and manage all orders in a centralized area, and gain visibility over their entire retail operation in a single place.

“Our partnership with Celerant truly provides FFLs with the technology they need to be successful. Our goal is to make it easy for FFL retailers to sell more products and effectively manage inventory levels through more efficient data management practices. Celerant’s clients will find it easy to import products, and we stand ready to provide the Celerant client base the level of customer service that Davidson’s is well known for.” – John Trull, Executive

“At Celerant, we have always worked to simplify operations for firearms retailers. Through our integration with Davidson’s, our clients can easily sell more merchandise while automating their order replenishment process. This allows firearm dealers to focus less on the technology and dedicate their time where it’s needed most – their business and customers.” – Ian Goldman, President & CEO, Celerant Technology

Family-Owned Outdoor, Hunting Retailer Finds an Advanced, Scalable Partner in Celerant

How Celerant’s Distributor Integrations and E-Commerce Software Helped SafeSide Tactical Through its Growing Pains and Beyond

Family-owned and operated SafeSide Tactical  opened in 2012 in an 800-square-foot building. It now employs sixty-five people across two retail locations and a booming E-Commerce platform. But this growth, especially in the highly regulated firearms industry, presented difficulties. Their filing system was not able to log customer information in a way that met government regulation, so that information had to be entered separately on the backend, opening the door to human error.

A Remedy for Error & Unmet Requirements

After researching price, retail software capabilities and hardware requirements, SafeSide Tactical found that Celerant’s Stratus Retail offered a remedy with software licenses, encrypted credit card hardware, training and scalability, and it was able to export the data from the two existing filing systems and combine them seamlessly. The software also immediately brought:

  • Increased productivity
  • Money and time savings
  • Automated data entry via license scanner
  • Eliminated human error
  • The Groundwork for Long-Term Growth

But Stratus’s benefits went far beyond making the purchase process easier. The software also tracked shooting rangeactivity, safety waiver completion and range memberships and monthly payments. As the business grew, Celerant’s E-Commerce features, combined with Celerant’s distributor integrations, proved vital in managing their business online.

Celerant is always bringing new technology, new integrations and new partnerships that allow us to stay ahead of industry trends. In addition to supporting our physical stores and shooting range, Stratus supports our E-Commerce business. Since going live, we have experienced record-selling online gift card revenue. In addition, each year I attend Celerant’s Annual Client Conference to learn about new enhancements, meet new partners, and network with other software users. We appreciate having those conversations, working with one company to address all my questions, and their around-the-clock support staff.Mitchell Tyler, Co-owner and Vice President, SafeSide Tactical

It allowed staff to review products, choose which to sell, and import them directly into the site from the distributor, with the potential to add over 200 products in a half hour, daily. Out-of-stock issues were avoided with automated purchasing and hourly inventory updates from vendors and distributors, and to keep the buyers coming, tracked customer data like purchase history allowed for targeted emails.

Celerant Technology secured top positions overall, as well as topped the Apparel Vendor and Specialty Retail categories. Celerant also was highly-ranked in several break-out categories including: Retail Concentration, Overall Performance, Total Cost of Operations, ROI, Software Reliability, Quality of Services, Recommendation, Mid-Sized Vendor and Broad Suite Vendor. RIS News attributes Celerant’s high-ranking to the company’s innovation in technology and fully-integrated mobile solution.

This marks the 13th consecutive year Celerant has secured top positions in the study, cementing its commitment to service, quality and innovation. The LeaderBoard annual survey, published by RIS News, ranks the top 20 out of 99 retail technology software vendors. Final rankings are determined by retailer surveys and vendor forms supervised by a third-party research firm to assure credibility of results.

“Celerant has been an excellent solution for us as we experienced dramatic expansion across all of our retail channels,” said a Celerant client survey respondent. “It is difficult to find software that addresses the needs of a sophisticated brick and mortar business, but also has a sophisticated web platform. Celerant Delivers Elite Customer Satisfaction

Recognized as a Top Retail System by RIS News Software LeaderBoard

Of all the software providers featured in the RIS Software LeaderBoard over a 10-plus year span the one company that draws the most inquiries for its standout performance is Celerant. Many people in the retail industry simply want to know how Celerant can pull off such high rankings in head-to-head competition against the leading technology companies in the world and do it year-after-year?

It’s a good question to ask and a big part of the answer is Celerant’s laser-like focus on customer-centricity or to put it another way — retailer-centricity. Celerant is a star performer in delivering Customer Satisfaction, the defining metric in the Software LeaderBoard, and has been a star for some time. This is backed up by appearances on 15 of the 2016 LeaderBoard’s 51 top-10 lists.

While Celerant has participated in the LeaderBoard for more than 10 years it has achieved an elite level of success in the last five years for being consistently ranked in the top-10 on the most important chart in the survey — the Top 20 LeaderBoard list.

The Top 20 LeaderBoard list is unique because it is the only top- 20 list in the report and the only one that uses the full set of data collected during the LeaderBoard research process without any filtering or sorting. The data sources in the list include: Customer Satisfaction (which is based on evaluations by retailers aggregated by an independent research firm), Retail Concentration (a score based on the number of modules in a vendor’s retail solution suite) and Revenue Factor (which refers to points awarded for revenue plateaus reached in the retail vertical).

In the last three years, Celerant has appeared in the top-5 quadrant of the Top 20 list. This year Celerant is ranked #5 out of all 45 vendors researched and evaluated in the LeaderBoard process, which is a stellar accomplishment by any measure.

Celerant Technology Announces New Marketing AutomationTitle

Platform segments live customer data, and sends personalized emails based on buying patterns

Staten Island, NY (November 10, 2016) – Celerant Technology, a leading provider of omnichannel retail management solutions, has launched its new email marketing automation platform, as an addition to its digital marketing services. With seamless integration, Celerant’s marketing automation pulls CRM and sales data in real-time, and uses this data to segment customers and send personalized emails based on automated workflows.

The power behind Celerant’s marketing automation is its ability to dynamically segment consumers based on their shopping behavior, past purchases, brand preferences and demographics. The system leverages customer data from every retail channel they visit, including your physical store(s) and website. This allows retailers to target and personalize email campaigns for the individual shopper. For example, women ages 30-50 that shop for Calvin Klein, men that shop for golf equipment, consumers that abandoned their cart, customers that haven’t purchased in 6 months, top customers and many more.

With Celerant’s marketing automation platform, email campaigns are personalized and sent based on automated workflows. That way, consumers will receive emails that are actually meant for them, increasing the chances they will click and convert into a sale. For example, invite customers to post online reviews for prior purchases; send suggested upsell items; remind shoppers with products in cart; offer targeted coupons; and reengage lost customers. These scenarios, plus many more, can be designed by your own marketing staff or by Celerant’s digital marketing experts who can make recommendations based on what works across multiple retail verticals.

“Personalized emails deliver 6x higher transaction rates compared to blind emails,” said Emerson Scherer, Digital Marketing Manager at Celerant Technology. “Most retailers, however, do not have the tools or bandwidth to personalize and automate campaigns, let alone gather all the customer data needed to make it happen. We are excited to offer personalized email automation, used by big box retailers, to the small and mid-market.”

Email marketing is by far the most cost-effective way to promote your business. Personalizing these emails by using valuable customer/sales data and sending the ‘right’ message at the ‘right’ time, significantly increases the success of email efforts.

New SEO Consulting Services from Celerant

New search engine optimization consulting services from Celerant bridge gap between consumer behavior and social media to increase online visibility, boosting e-commerce conversions

Staten Island, NY (April 12, 2016) – Celerant Technology, a leading provider of omnichannel retail management solutions, recently announced its new search engine optimization services that leverage expansive market intelligence with behavior analytics to develop customized plans that dramatically increase online awareness. Retailers using these SEO services can stay ahead of the curve and remain visible in the face of evolving search algorithms that incorporate a quickly accelerating array of attributes and qualifiers.

“In today’s environment, optimizing content to rank highly for select keywords merely scratches the surface of a complex SEO universe,” explains Ian Goldman, CEO of Celerant Technology. “It really doesn’t take very long for businesses to fall behind if they fail to stay current on technology trends. This is why we created a robust suite of SEO services that mesh social media, merchandise and content to nurture increased sales from the right consumers. By doing so, we offer a full service end-to-end e-commerce solution for our customers. This simply means after we complete an initial analysis and make site SEO recommendations, we go into the back-end of the website and make the actual changes on behalf of our client for a more effective, faster and cost efficient approach.”

Retailers that utilize these new services can expect to begin with a thorough website conversion audit conducted by the Celerant web team that reveals existing strengths and weaknesses. Customer data is then analyzed and cross-referenced with dynamic market intelligence to determine what other sites and information target demographics are consuming. Holistic understanding of this consumer behavior is then used to develop a protocol that attracts more visitors and motivates them to make purchases.

“Boosting social shares, lowering bounce rates and increasing conversions are SEO metrics that are just as important as page rankings on the leading search engines,” says Zeke Hamdani, Director of Web Services at Celerant Technology. “SEO done right can rival huge advertising spends and really level the playing field for retailers without massive marketing budgets — but it’s important to consistently remain current, and this new offering includes constant monitoring, tweaking and reporting on a bi-weekly basis.”

In addition to advising optimized content creation and placement, Celerant’s SEO services also identify new opportunities that retailers can build into long-term sales goals. Carefully crafted affiliate marketing and product feed strategies are two examples of measures that widen the sales funnel and populate it with more qualified consumers that are likely to share positive experiences and attract subsequent customers.
