The 20th anniversary edition of the RIS Software LeaderBoard is a major longevity milestone for one of retail’s most authoritative research reports. It also represents a longevity milestone for Celerant Technology, which has emerged in the report as one of the top-ranked software providers in retail for the past 15 years. Among Celerant’s many achievements in the Software LeaderBoard is its record of success in the decisive top-20 “master list.” This list, which is officially called the “2021 RIS Software LeaderBoard Top 20,” is the only chart that runs 20 vendors deep and is based on a comprehensive set of research data to rank the top award winning POS systems and retail software solutions.

Overall, the report includes 51 important lists, but aside from the master list the others delve into granular views of exclusive research through cross-tab analysis. The Software LeaderBoard shines a light on the best of the best solution providers in retail and no vendor that appears in the report, regardless of placement on a top-10 list, is a loser. In fact, all who appear anywhere in the report are among the best of the best. However, the top-20 master list is the one chart that validates whether or not a tech vendor is a leading player in the retail industry.

Every solution provider vying for retailer attention in the marketplace seeks to be on the master list because it is a powerful measure of a vendor’s standing and footprint in the industry. So, for Celerant to achieve impressive scores on the LeaderBoard’s master list for nearly 20 years is an impressive milestone for any award winning point of sale platform. Top Scores in Categories and Criteria

In the 2021 report, Celerant has cemented its top-three status across a wide range of major categories and individual criteria. In addition to achieving a #2 score in the top-20 master list in 2021, Celerant achieves top scores in five major categories including:

Several other noteworthy accomplishments include: Leader in Return on Investment (#5), Leader in Quality of Service (#5), Leader in Recommendation (#6), Leader in Customer Satisfaction for Mid-Size Retailers (#6), Leader in Overall Performance (#6), and Leader in Customer Satisfaction for Apparel Retailers (#7).

Beyond the strong showing in most of the LeaderBoard’s top-10 charts, Celerant achieved several other noteworthy distinctions in the 2021 report. These include being one of three vendors to surpass the 90-point mark in the top-20 master list, scoring a stellar 92.2 out of a possible 105 points. Celerant was also one of only three vendors to break the 90-point mark for Top Mid- Size Vendors, Top Broad Suite Vendors, and Top Vendors for Mid-Size Retailers. Celerant was one of only two vendors to break the 90-point mark for Top Apparel Vendors and was the only vendor to break the 90-point mark among Specialty Retail Vendors.

Customer Satisfaction Means Retailer Satisfaction

Customer satisfaction is the signature element in the LeaderBoard’s head-to head comparison report. It is converted into a scoring system worth a maximum of 50 points in specialized category lists (e.g. Specialty Retail, Apparel Retail, Tier One Retailers, etc.), which use the research report’s full data set. For many other top-10 lists customer satisfaction is the only datapoint and comprises 100% of the point total. Clearly, Celerant's award winning point of sale team is adept at delivering customer satisfaction for its retail clients at a level that places it among the highest in the retail industry.

As an example, back in March, through speaking with our retailers we saw there was a real need for a more streamlined curbside pickup process, We very quickly developed our curbside pickup application helping our retailers organize the process through an automated text message alert system which is integrated with our e-commerce platform. Within just a couple of weeks of COVID, we were offering this to our retailers at no charge, to better help them serve their customers. Additionally, while the majority of our retailers already had our e-commerce platform, for those that did not, we were able to work with them and launch e-commerce sites faster than ever before, helping them get on online fast, while their stores were either shut-down or limited due to COVID restrictions.”

In the LeaderBoard, customer satisfaction means retailer satisfaction. In the 2021 report, 302 retailers cast 714 votes for software vendors they have used within the last 12 months.
